This Privacy Policy explains what information Culturista, developed by Miguel Angel Perez Colula (“Culturista,” “we,” or “us”), collects when you use the Culturista app and the culturista.app website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Summary
- Your account uses Sign in with Apple. Apple gives us an account identifier and an email address so your account works.
- Your workouts, programs, exercises, and body-weight entries are kept on your device and, if you turn it on, in your private cloud storage linked to your Apple Account. We cannot access that data.
- If you send feedback, we receive what you write plus basic technical details such as the app version.
- We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Section 12 explains how our practices may change.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account information
Culturista requires an account, and accounts are created with Sign in with Apple. When you sign in, Apple shares with us:
- An account identifier: a unique ID that links you to your Culturista account.
- Your email address: either your own address or, if you choose Hide My Email, a private relay address that forwards to you.
We keep these in a basic account record, along with the dates your account was created and last signed in. Apple may ask whether to share your name. We do not store or use it.
2.2 Feedback you send
If you use Send Feedback, Report a Bug, or Suggest a Feature, we receive the text you enter and the type of feedback, together with technical details that help us understand the issue: app version and build number, iOS version, device type (for example, “iPhone” or “iPad”), and language and region setting. Feedback is linked to your account identifier and the time you send it. Please don’t include health details or other sensitive information unless you want us to have it.
2.3 Connections to our service providers
When the app signs you in or keeps you signed in, sends feedback, or plays an exercise video, it connects to servers run by our service providers for hosting and content delivery. As with any internet service, those servers receive your device’s IP address as part of the connection. Our account provider also keeps security logs of sign-ins, such as the time, IP address, device or app details, and your account email and identifier. These logs are kept for a limited period to protect accounts, and that period can continue after you delete your account. We do not use IP addresses to build profiles or determine your location.
2.4 The website
The culturista.app website does not use cookies, analytics, or third-party trackers. Our hosting provider receives your IP address and basic request details, such as browser type, when you visit.
2.5 Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach, and we use them to respond to you.
2.6 Diagnostics from Apple
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give us crash reports and app usage statistics under Apple’s terms. The app also writes diagnostic messages to your device’s log; we receive them only if you send them to us.
3. Information That Stays Under Your Control
3.1 Training data
Workouts, sets, weights, reps, programs, folders, custom exercises and their photos, personal records, body-weight entries, weight goals, and folder cover images are kept on your device. If you turn on cloud storage for your Apple Account, this data also syncs to your private cloud storage so it is available on your other devices. That storage belongs to your Apple Account, and we cannot view or access it.
When you add a photo, the system photo picker gives the app only the photos you choose. If you create a cover image with Apple’s Image Playground, the image is created by Image Playground and saved with your training data.
Your height, units, theme, and other settings stay on your device, except your Focus Mode selection (section 3.2). Body mass index (BMI), weight trends, and goal forecasts are calculated on your device and are not stored.
If you allow notifications, the app schedules rest-timer alerts on your device. Live Activities show workout details on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, where anyone who can see your device can see them and use their controls, such as logging a set. We do not send notifications or Live Activity updates from our servers.
3.2 Focus Mode
Focus Mode uses Apple’s Screen Time framework to block the apps you choose while you train. Apple gives the app only tokens that represent your selection; they do not reveal which apps you chose or how you use them. These tokens are kept on your device and, if you turn on cloud storage for your Apple Account, in your private cloud storage so your selection is available on your other devices.
3.3 Contributions
Contributions are purchased and managed through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your payment details, and your contribution status is checked on your device.
Apple gives us sales and subscription reports, such as the product, price, country or region, and dates. Deleting your account or the app does not cancel a contribution; cancel it in your App Store account settings.
4. How We Use Information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To read, respond to, and act on feedback, bug reports, and emails.
- To operate, maintain, and improve Culturista.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your information for advertising.
4.1 Legal bases in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
- Contract: creating, securing, and deleting your account, keeping you signed in, and delivering exercise videos.
- Legitimate interests: responding to feedback and emails, fixing bugs, improving Culturista, and keeping Culturista and its users secure, including through security and website logs. You can object to this processing.
- Legal obligation: complying with the law and lawful requests, including keeping financial records such as Apple’s sales reports.
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. Suggestions, trends, and forecasts are calculations the app makes on your device.
5. What We Don’t Do
This section describes our practices as of the “Last updated” date. Section 12 explains how they may change.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not show ads or share information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
- The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting tools.
6. How Information Is Shared
We share information only:
- With service providers that host our account and feedback systems, our email, and this website, and deliver exercise videos. They process information on our behalf, under our instructions and data-protection terms with us, and are required to protect it at least as well as this policy describes.
- With Apple, as needed to provide Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and your private cloud storage, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Culturista.
If Culturista is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and it will remain subject to this policy.
7. Retention and Deletion
We keep your account information and feedback for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account at any time in the app: tap the profile icon at the top of the Home tab to open Settings, then choose Delete Account. When you delete your account, we delete your account record, including your email address and account identifier, and all feedback linked to it. Deletion is permanent.
Copies in our service providers’ routine backups are removed on their normal backup schedules. Security logs (section 2.3) and website request logs (section 2.4) are kept only as long as needed to protect accounts and Culturista, and then deleted. We keep emails you send us as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up. We may keep information longer where the law requires it or to establish or defend legal claims. Deleting your account does not cancel a contribution.
Deleting your account does not remove training data kept on your device or in your private cloud storage, because we cannot access it. To remove that data, delete the app, then delete Culturista’s data from your Apple Account’s cloud storage (on iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, and manage your storage). You can also stop using Sign in with Apple with Culturista from your Apple Account settings.
8. Children’s Privacy
Culturista is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required where they live). If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Users
Culturista is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws differ from those where you live. When personal information from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland is transferred to those countries, we rely on safeguards recognized by law, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and their UK and Swiss equivalents. Contact us to learn more.
10. Your Choices and Rights
You can delete your account in the app at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland: You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests and complain to your local data-protection authority.
Consumer health data: Washington residents and others covered by consumer health data laws can read our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
To make a request, email support@culturista.app with the subject “Privacy request.” We may need to verify your identity, for example by confirming you control your account email. We respond within the time the law requires. If we decline, you can appeal by replying to our decision. We cannot access, correct, or delete training data in your private cloud storage for you; use the steps in section 7. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
11. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls that limit each account to its own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. Changes to This Policy
Our app and our data practices may change. For example, we may collect new types of information, keep copies of training data on our or our service providers’ servers to offer features such as backup or web access, add analytics or crash-reporting tools, or work with new service providers. When we update this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Before a significant change takes effect, we will also give notice in the app or on this website. Where the law requires your consent, we will ask for it first; continuing to use Culturista does not count as that consent.
13. Contact
Questions or requests about privacy? In the app, tap the profile icon at the top of the Home tab to open Settings, then choose Send Feedback, or, without an account, email support@culturista.app. You can also message us on X at @appculturista.
